The Suicide Journals:
Mistaken Identity
With its workshop introduction & world premiere at the 2015 Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC, “The Suicide Journals” aims to take an in-depth, intense and raw look at the world of teenage and young adult suicide.
Each character represents some of the common methods of suicide/suicide attempts by youth while exploring issues such as sexuality and religion, systematic injustices, racism, Islamophobia, bullying and abuse. Through a
series of monologues, each story told represents the nearly 4,000 youth that die by suicide each year in the United States alone. It is our hope to raise awareness and cultivate discussion that leads to action on a subject that is often hushed, swept under the rug or ignored by simply stating that suicide is taboo.
